Ending January with a bang!

Remember when you were a kid and used to get the little candy necklaces?! I remember putting mine on (usually at a birthday party), taking little nibbles out of it, and trying to make it last as long as I could. Here’s a fun project that your birthday girl (or boy) will love and will probably remember when they grow up too! Makes a cute little party favor too!

This sweet little set was made by Heidi King.

Sometimes you need a really special gift box for a really special person! Here is a pretty one that you can use! With its generous size and decorative top, you will be just as pleased to present this box as you are with whatever you choose to place inside. The recipient of this "bursting with Spring" gift box will surely consider it a keeper. The coordinating greeting card is the perfect accompaniment with plenty of visual interest on its own! And this fun set was made by Regina Andari.

Over at Craft Project Central you can get more details about the tutorials for these projects by checking out the subscription for the month of January.

Boys Can Be Mean!

So yesterday my son tells me it was his friend's birthday, and he wants to give him some money. So I told him ok, and I'll make a card. And he says he doesn't really need a card. Then I told him that's a little weird to just hand your friend some money (but, yeah, maybe 16 year old boys are a little weird anyway, huh?). So, conversation ended, and today I made this card. When I handed it to him, he said he wasn't giving that 'dumb card' to his friend. - What a poop he is!! So I told him then maybe I won't be giving you the money you wanted to give him!

And it gets better... my husband comes in and I tell him that Alex is mean. Blah, blah... birthday... I made this card... So he asks if it's for a boy or a girl. We tell him it's a boy. He says 'no card, just shake his hand and tell him happy birthday.'

So who's out of touch most - me? my husband? Maybe both!!

So whatever! I guess the card will go into my card stash ready to give someone else. Glad it was simple to make and I didn't spend all day on it!

Hope you had a great Sunday!

Pull-Out Pocket Valentine!

I made this card for my Technique Class last month. I was inspired by a card made by Becky Roberts - so I created my own version. And then the colors and the accents on it got to be a bit much, so I found a simple, but cute card made by Angie Juda that helped me simplify everything to a monochromatic scheme. So that's a lot of how I come up with fun cards and projects for my classes! I find cool stuff made by other people - change it up, rearrange it, and a little bit of 'make it my own' and it's a new project for class! (And there is that once in a blue moon when I actually create something on my own too!)

So here's the pull-out part. And how cool would it be to attach a gift card to it, or you could just write a special note!

Wouldn't it make a cute Valentine for that someone special?!

A Pink Pirouette Valentine

I saw a card on Stampin' Connection the other day that inspired me to make this card. Mine turned out pretty different from the one I started out to copy, but I think that's all good when it becomes your own!

I didn't buy the Take it to Heart set on my original Occasions Mini order, but I gave in after seeing so many cute samples! I realized that all the heart designs are not only great with the new Hearts Collection Framelits, but they're good for a lot more occasions than just Valentines. And then I figured I better get it sooner than later so I could make the most of it for Valentines too!!

So I added texture and Dimensionals to make it a little more interesting. And I also added some Pretty in Pink brads to the side - I used to do that a lot, but haven't in a while - I still like the look!

A Blushing Mixed Bunch!

Here's a card I made for a swap I participated in. I used the new set Mixed Bunch, and of course, the new punch, Blossom. I love it when Stampin' Up! coordinates their punches with a set!! I also used the new Twitterpated DSP and buttons, and the Blushing Bride Pleated Ribbon - lovin' all the new accessories from the Occasions Mini!

Here's a close up of the flower. I added some underneath Blushing Bride layers just for added interest for the texture of the flower.

And, I used one of my favorite saying sets, Petite Pairs!

Winter Lantern

Do you know someone who loves snowflakes or just needs a little something to light up their day? This pretty Winter Lantern will add some sparkle to any winter decor! The embossed snowflakes on the lantern panes give a beautiful silhouette when a battery powered candle is lit inside! The sparkling silvery snowflakes decorate the lantern to truly give it a wintry feel!

Simple Baja Valentine!

So who says Valentines can't be Baja?! Valentines are all about love after all - and I LOVE Baja - so Why Not?! It's a very simple card, with a simple layout. - But I love it all! So many fun new tools that give it those little extra touches!

I can't believe I had sort of forgotten about this set, Delightful Dozen. It was one of my must-haves when the new catalog came out in July. And then it got forgotten. Well I used the Merry Christmas one (which was just the other day!), but I had forgotten how many great, and cute different fonts are in the set. It makes it feel like a 'dozen' different styles. Guess that's why they chose the name?! Anyway, I love this Valentine saying! And I love how the little heart (from the Owl Punch) looks so cute in the open heart!

And all the fun new tools in our Occasions Mini - I used the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder with the little hearts on the Crumb Cake section. And I used the scalloped edge folder, from the same set, on the Baja edge. Then I used the coordinating Adorning Accents Edgelits die to cut the Baja edge. I LOVE how Stampin' Up! put these parts together - and how did they do it for less than 20 bucks?! - Sa-weeeet!!

Of course, the Baja Seam Binding and Designer Papers keep it all simple - but still interesting!

Return of the Scallop Envelope!

I made a bunch of these quick little gifties the other night! I love how the Scallop Envelope die for the Big Shot makes easy little treats. - And Ghiradelli's fit in there just right!

I used the Heart of Hearts Embosslit to make the Scalloped red heart. And then I used the new PS I Love You set to stamp the heart, and then punched with the Full Heart Punch. The saying is also from the PS I Love You set - lots of great pieces in that set! Check it out in the Occasions Mini - plus lots of other awesome new goodies!!

More Fun at Craft Project Central!

Here's a couple more fun projects from Craft Project Central! This desk calendar is designed so that the main calendar stand can be used as a card and folds easily to fit into a Small Open-End envelope! The box that accompanies the "card" holds note paper. It's a really clever little idea made by Tanya Bell.

Here’s a very pretty and elegant box and card set that would make a perfect gift, and especially for someone that likes butterflies! This project is quick and easy, but has a big WOW factor! It was made by Sharon Burkert.

A Twitterpated Calendar for Friday!

Here's the project we'll be making at class this Friday! I got the idea from Kay Kalthoff. But, of course, I changed up the papers and the colors - and all the goods to incorporate our latest Occasions Mini Catalog stuff! It's a combination of an Easel Card, and a custom-made drawer (that fits exactly under the base of the Easel Card)! - Super cool, huh?

Here's a better look at the piece that holds the easel in place. I like the saying for a nice everyday reminder! And I tried to match up some flowers to replicate the pattern in the Twitterpatted papers from the above section - and added a little Rhinestone bling!

Here's a better look at the Easel Card top part of the project. (And it's a little truer color - the top picture was a bit dim looking!) I really like how the Twitterpated Papers bring all the colors together! And, of course, it has just the right amount of Baja Breeze in it :) So I had to use the Baja Seam Binding to top it all off!

I hope to see you at class this Friday!

Quick and the Coolest!

This is the quickest, and coolest, card I've made in less than 2 minutes... ever!! I recently came across a very cool Stampin' Up! demonstrator's blog, by Chris Smith. I Love her style! And I found the idea for this card on her blog. Super simple, but I love it!

Her idea was to take those pieces of Designer Papers that have a lot of pattern to it (this was has kind of a lot to it), and then run it through the Square Lattice embossing folder. Stick that on - add an easy ribbon - and a greeting - Tah Dah!!

Here's a closer view. Maybe you can see the embossing better? Anyway, I just love the idea for this quick and easy card!

By the way, my husband had asked me to make him a thank you card about a week ago - so when he reminded me tonight - this was what he got! I'm sure he thought I've been working on it, but little did he know that I ran upstairs and whipped up this beauty in just a couple minutes!! You can bet I'll be making a card like this again - change up the papers and the saying - awesome!

Not only is this crocodile box perfect for the kids’ Valentine exchange, but it makes a great novelty candy dish or packaging for a small gift. Change up the colors for a dinosaur look too! So fun and easy to make, you’ll want to make more than one!
