I'm Back with Daffodil Friends!

OK, so really it's "Friends Never Fade" in Daffodil Delight! I really love this new color - not as brightie bright as Summer Sun, and not so shocking as YoYo Yellow! I think I'm going to adapt pretty quickly to the new colors! This is a quick monochromatic card for my stash for the Scrapbook Expo display. Monochromatic is so pleasing for me - it's definitely a style I can put together and feel good about! I think that's what made me fall in love with Stampin' Up! - all the coordinating inks, papers, ribbons... You don't have to think about what goes together! I used papers from the Greenhouse Gala Designer Papers and the Daffodil Delight 1/8" taffeta ribbon, and the Thank You is from the set, Thank You Kindly.

Friends Never Fade!

I made this card as part of some projects I'm putting together for the Scrapbook Expo in August. There are a few us putting the booth together and we're each doing certain colors/themes for different display boards. And, boy I'm having a creative block with my colors so far!! I can do just about anything monochromatic (a single color with a neutral), but I'm not sure some of my color combos are working for me - yet!!

Anyway, this is the new set Friends Never Fade. It's a great set and has coordinating Designer Papers called Greenhouse Gala. I love the variety of the papers and the colors they have in them - I hope they will inspire me to be more creative with my color combos - soon!

Have a great weekend,

Who Would Have Ever Known....

... if I hadn't shown you this? So, this is my way to "cheap out" some of the extra card stock layer pieces I would need to make a bunch of these (for the swap I'm doing, I'm going to make about 80 or so of these - and this will save me about 10 sheets of card stock). I used the Early Espresso layer that will be under the Brayered Impressions piece to run a Big Shot tag.

And now that the layer is stuck on the back, the "hole" from the tag is hidden underneath! Pretty Cool card stock saver, huh? Or, maybe I'm just a cheapskate?!

And, here's the back side that no one (except now you!) would have ever seen!

And, finally, just thought I'd show you the difference between the Chocolate Chip version I did the other day, and the Early Espresso version today. I wasn't sure about the intensity of the Espresso at first, but I Love it now!! And, yes, it is temporarily missing the Espresso ribbon, but that will be on my July 1st order - Woohoo! New stuff, very soon!! - Oh! And the new Happy Birthday saying is from the new set, Perfect Punches - Love it!!

Swap Ideas in the Making!

I have lots of things I'm working on over the next couple months, some events and swaps. So, I'm trying to "try out" some ideas - then colors and slight differences might happen before they are finalized. This is the start of an idea for a swap I'm participating in at Convention in late July. Since I have a few Sneak Peek items from the catalog, I thought I'd incorporate those.

The background is made with the new Impressions Folder Vintage Wallpaper. I ran it through the Big Shot and then brayered it with Chocolate Chip on the "debossed" side. I think I will probably make it in Espresso instead of Chocolate Chip just to "new" it up! Also, I'm waiting for a new set "Perfect Punches" to put in the wide oval spot. And, if you can believe it, the set I used,Well Scripted, for the Happy Birthday saying, isn't shown in the new catalog - Eeek! Hope you bought it back in the Occasions Mini! Otherwise, I'm sure you'll love the new Birthday greeting in the Perfect Punches set too!

New and Interesting!

This is some of the new Designer Series Papers Greenhouse Gala that will be coming out July 1st. This is definitely an interesting color combo that I wouldn't usually put together. But, I saw a card on Stampin' Connection, done in a different print from this set of papers, and I thought I'd branch out with this color! Not sure if I like it yet, but we'll see if it grows on me!? The green card base is the new Pear Pizzazz - likin' that color!

Another Father's Day Card

Here's another Father's Day card I made. Seems like every time my daughter is over, she leaves needing a card! If only I could get her to make more - it always just seems to be a last minute request. Oh well, I love doing it! So, this was for her boyfriend's father.

I love how awesome our Designer Papers are - and how you can honestly make such a quick card with not a lot of time or effort. The papers make it all come together!

Have a great Father's Day Sunday!

Father's Day is Coming!

I made this card today for my hubby for Father's Day. I used some inspiration for the coloring and the layout from a couple different people on Stampin' Connection (thank goodness for others' creativity when mine isn't always flowing!). The coloring looks a little washed out in the photo, but it does look clearer in person. And, if I had to make again, I would have used the Watercolor Paper (it does make a difference!).

I even made a coordinating inside for the card. I noticed that a lot of people are doing this now. And, especially on the darker color base, it is nice to have a white writing surface for the inside.

Have a great weekend!

Quick Thank Yous!

I used 6" x 6" Pink Flamingo Designer Papers to make these quick little treat pockets. We've made them in Technique Class a while back - I think I called them 1, 2, 3, 4 Fold Pouch. I have seen them called the Diaper Fold - but that just doesn't work for me, especially putting chocolates in it!!

I added the layered punches with the sad-to-see-it-retiring-set Think Happy Thoughts! Love that set!! There's just a couple weeks left to pick up anything you may NEED from the current catalog. You can always check what's available on my website (click on the link to the right). And then, July 1st - the NEW catalog!! Can't wait!!

Another "Find" From my Cleaned off Desk!

So, back when I was experimenting with the "Partial Impressions" folders, I had started this card. I had stuck the Baja Breeze piece onto the Kraft card with the Thoroughly Modern stripe above it - and then I had set it in a pile! So, I made a quick finish with the Soft Suede polka dot ribbon and the Oval All stamp and oval punches. It made a for quick finish!

Hope you're having a good week,

Some Great "Finds" on My Desk!

Today I finally made some time to clear off my desk, and do a little reorganization for the new color renovation! As I was clearing off a big stack of scraps and "stuff," I found this "almost done" card. It was white with the Rose piece and white ribbon tied around it. So, I took out the Sweet Scoops set and some So Saffron and Soft Suede background scraps and I whipped up this birthday card. - Always good to have another birthday card on hand!

Now it's good to have an extra birthday card on hand - because I didn't have one this morning when my daughter wanted a little "girly" kind of birthday card. But I used some background papers and put this together pretty quickly! I wasn't super happy with it after I finished, and I really wasn't happy with all mess that had built up on my desk - so, that's what inspired the clean up. And it always feels better to make something on a clean desk too!

Hope you had a nice Sunday,

Julie

Graduation Time of Year!

My daughter asked me for a graduation card today (in between stamp classes, one this morning and one tonight). So, I asked her if she liked the design of the one we were making in class. She said yes, but needed it in green. So, wahlah - a green version of our "Make Your Own Texturz Plate" card from class today. So much quicker to make a card that you're copying!

I used the Seeing Starts set and the retiring set, Celebrate Everything. I didn't have many graduation sets, but Celebrate works! And, I did put the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp "Happy Graduation" on the inside.

Happy Friday,

Julie

This Friday's Upcoming Technique Class!

Here are the three cards, and "small project" that we'll be making at this Friday's Technique Class! I'll show you how to make your own Texturz Plate (for the Big Shot) - the star card. Then you'll do some simple watercoloring (with markers) - and you'll see a trick to keeping watercoloring supplies to a minimum. And, you'll have the option to making your bicycle nice and shiny with Crystal Effects. Also, you'll make a Paper Frame to show off the Tropical Party coconut! Notice the "Partial Impression" at the bottom of the coconut card? We learned that at the last Big Shot Class!

The "small project" turned into two, then three small projects! But, honestly, they each take about 5 minutes to make! Of course, all the pieces are already cut for you. Just run a piece through the Big Shot - and the rest is quick stamping, punching and sticking together! I couldn't resist though - because this is one of my favorite quick, go-to dies for the Big Shot, and I'm gonna miss it when the new catalog comes out in July!! The PETAL CARD die!! (The only good thing is that I know when Stampin' Up! retires one of my favorite things - I can always look forward to something really cool taking its' place!)

I hope you'll be joining the group on Friday morning or evening for these Summer Fun Ideas! Please let me know by Wednesday so I'll have a packet all ready to go for you.

See you then,

Julie

Vacation is almost over!

Well, vacation can be Marvelous... but why, oh why does it have to go by so quickly? So, yes, tomorrow will be the travel day home! It's been fun while it lasted. And, honestly, I will be glad to be back in my stamp room (just not sure I'm ready for all the mail and other things that have collected while I've been gone - but oh well!).

This fun card was made by my Stampin' Buddy Chari. A great card, and simple design for Father's Day or any kind of masculine occasion. Really, this card could be adapted for lots of occasions! Love it!

A Few More Tropical Days!

Time always flies when you're on vacation, huh? I'm finally enjoying just getting up and doing nothing - but these days are numbered, only a couple left! I am a little anxious to get home to some new Stampin' Up! stuff that will arrive the day after I get home though! So, a little back home time, clean up, laundry, settle in, and then woohoo, new stuff! I do miss having my creative time!

On to this cool card though - a great tropical card made by my friend Dena! Love that little coconut with the umbrella. We're not quite tropical here in Arizona - but warm, no - HOT!! How fun are all those little umbrellas?!

Cute Bouquet Bunch Window Card

Here's a cute card made by my upline, Tami. She used the new Mini sets, Bouquet Bunch and In a Word. And, I really like how she punched out a window and put the image on the inside of the card. She also added a nice touch with the Square Lattice Embossed piece and the Satin Ribbon!

Hope you're having a good week,

Julie
